Who we are
Yada Bible Reader (“Yada”) is an iPhone app made by Creotok LTD (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Yada app. You can reach us at creotok@gmail.com.
What stays on your iPhone
Yada keeps the following in a database on your device:
- where you were reading, so the app opens at the same verse;
- your bookmarks and recent passages;
- which passages of Start here you have finished;
- your settings, such as text size and translation;
- simple counts of how you use features, kept on the device.
None of this is sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it from your iPhone.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, Yada keeps a copy of your bookmarks, reading place, Start here progress and four settings (appearance, text size, your translation and the translations you compare with) in your own iCloud account, using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. This lets them follow you to another iPhone and survive reinstalling the app.
Apple holds that copy under its own privacy policy, and we cannot see it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, these stay on your iPhone only. You can turn iCloud off for Yada in the Settings app.
What goes over the network
Yada downloads content, and sends nothing about you:
- when you open the Translations sheet, it fetches the list of translations available to download, and when you tap Download, that translation’s file;
- when you open a book, it fetches that book’s explanations, study notes, cross-references and profiles;
- when you download a book’s audio, it fetches those recordings.
These files come from Cloudflare R2, the storage service that hosts them. The requests carry no account, identifier or reading data. Like any web host, Cloudflare may log the IP address and time of each request. Apart from iCloud, described above, Yada makes no other network requests.
Listening
Yada plays recordings you have downloaded, or, where there are none, reads the text with the speech voice built into your iPhone. Either way, playback happens on your iPhone, and nothing you listen to is sent anywhere.
What Yada does not do
- It has no account or sign-in.
- It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting software.
- It does not access your contacts, location, photos, microphone or camera.
- It does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
TestFlight
If you test Yada through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple’s TestFlight terms and privacy policy apply to that service. Apple may share with us crash reports from the beta and any feedback you choose to send, which can include screenshots and your email address. We use these only to fix and improve Yada.
If you email us
We use your email address and message only to reply to you. Ask us and we will delete them.
Children
Yada collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. Apart from emails and TestFlight feedback you send us, we hold none. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
